FAQs
-
A tiny home is a small, fully functional living space, usually under 40 square meters. It’s designed to be compact yet efficient, offering everything you need in a smaller, more affordable package. Tiny homes are often used as a lifestyle choice for people who want to downsize, live more sustainably, or have a mobile living option.
-
Yes, Under the NZ Building Act, there is a 10-year implied warranty period. All residential building work in New Zealand, no matter how big or small, is covered.
-
Yes, we offer delivery for our tiny homes!
For our Prefab With Us range, homes are delivered via HIAB (crane truck) or towing, depending on the model—ensuring safe transport to your site. In some regions, delivery may even be free (T&Cs apply).
For our Build With Us range, we typically recommend on-site construction. This allows for greater design flexibility and ensures the home is tailored to your location’s conditions, while avoiding potential transport challenges. However, if delivery works better for you, we’re happy to arrange it.
-
For our Prefab With Us range, homes are constructed overseas in warehouse environments. We oversee every step, using high-quality materials—often the same products you’d find here in New Zealand. This ensures your home meets rigorous standards while keeping costs more affordable.
With our Build With Us range, we typically prefer on-site construction when possible. This approach avoids transportation challenges and often saves you money long-term (since subcontractors will need access regardless). That said, we also offer off-site construction when needed—we’ll work closely with you to determine the best solution for your situation.
-
Possibly, but councils may require consent for permanent dwellings. Some cities allow 'minor dwellings' under certain conditions. This is something we handle for you, we check local council regulations and contact the right people to get clear answers.
-
It depends. Some families thrive in cleverly designed 2-bedroom tiny homes, but space management is key. The right fit also depends on your family's size and needs. We'll guide you through choosing the best tiny home option for your family's specific situation, ensuring you're happy with your purchase and that it remains functional for your lifestyle.
-
Yes, if it meets legal requirements (e.g., proper sanitation, power, and zoning rules). Some rural areas are more lenient than urban zones.
-
Options include:
Off-grid: Solar power, composting toilets, rainwater tanks.
On-grid: Hookups for power, water, and sewage (like a traditional house).
-
We’ll consult with your local council to identify any restrictions that may apply to your tiny home. This allows us to clarify:
Specific zoning regulations for your property
Rules regarding the number of dwellings permitted on your site
Any special provisions for mobile dwellings (including tiny homes)
With this information, we can provide clear guidance to ensure your project meets all local requirements.
-
In New Zealand, tiny homes are allowed, but where and when they can be placed depends on local council regulations. we organise all of this by checking zoning laws to ensure the location is suitable, as rules differ between residential, rural, and recreational areas. Along with this Permanent homes on foundations will likely require consent and must meet building code standards which we organise for you completely. Additionally, if connecting to utilities, we will need to arrange the necessary permits.

Steps to the Build
Step 1:
The first step is to conduct a thorough site assessment to ensure the proposed dwelling will fit within the site and has access to essential services such as water, electricity, and other utilities. Next, we will review the local district planning regulations to confirm whether an additional dwelling is permitted in the area.
Step 2:
Next, we'll review the plans for your home and identify the consents required for your build. At this stage, a 10% deposit will be required to proceed with creating the necessary plans. We will also go over the pricing details for the tiny home at this time.
Step 3:
We'll discuss whether you'd prefer to build on-site or off-site, and also review the progress of obtaining the necessary consents for your project.
Step 4:
Once the necessary consents are issued, we can begin building your dream home. At this point, a 40% deposit will be required to start construction. Once received, we'll move forward with the building process.
Step 5:
We'll keep you updated on the progress of construction and the overall status of the project. During this phase, we'll also discuss various customization options for your home, such as the kitchen, bathroom fixtures, and lighting.
Step 6:
Once the project is completed, the final 50% payment will be due before the keys are handed over. At this stage, we'll conduct a final walkthrough to ensure everything meets your expectations and that you're fully satisfied with the completed home.
